Cobloc AI: workspace assistant, canvas tools & block connections

Cobloc AI: workspace assistant, canvas tools & block connections

A full AI assistant that works across your workspace. Have conversations, create blocks on your canvas, attach images and PDFs, and connect blocks to AI chat for live context.

Cobloc AI page

Cobloc now has a dedicated AI page accessible from the sidebar. Chat with Claude Sonnet, GPT-4o, or Gemini Flash. Ask questions, brainstorm, write content, and get summaries. Your conversations are saved with full history, auto-generated titles, and grouped by time (Today, Yesterday, This week).

Attach a page via the + context button to unlock canvas tools. Cobloc AI can create note blocks, todo blocks, and link blocks directly on the attached page. Undo or accept generated blocks with a single click. Six AI modes (Auto, Canvas Builder, Web Research, Page Review, Summarize, and Brainstorm) guide Cobloc AI’s behavior for different tasks.

Each conversation has its own URL so you can reload the page and return to the same chat. Context attachments persist across sessions and page reloads.

Multimodal support

Attach images and PDFs to any AI conversation. Paste them directly into the chat box or use the + menu to attach. Images are sent to vision-capable models so Cobloc AI can describe, analyze, or answer questions about what it sees. PDFs are read and extracted automatically. Ask Cobloc AI to summarize a document, pull out key points, or answer questions about its contents. Click any attached image or PDF to preview it in a lightbox with a page stack viewer for PDFs.

Canvas AI panel

The sidebar AI panel on every canvas page now shares the same capabilities as the full AI page. Six AI modes, thinking blocks with Claude Sonnet, image and PDF attachments via the + dropdown or paste, and status messages during generation. A quote-reply feature lets you highlight any AI response text to reply in context.

Block-to-AI-Chat connections

Block-to-AI-Chat connections

Connect image, note, todo, and document blocks directly to an AI Chat block on your canvas. Hover over any content block to reveal a connector dot on its right edge, then drag to the dot on an AI Chat block’s left edge. Connected content is automatically included as context in every message. Images are sent as visual attachments, notes and todos as text, and PDFs with extracted text.

Connections always use the latest content, so updates to a connected block are reflected on your next message. Hover over the bezier curve edge line and click the X to remove a connection. Connector dots stay visible when a block has an active connection.

AI Chat block

AI Chat blocks on the canvas are now resizable from 440px to 1200px wide using the diagonal resize handle at the bottom-right corner. The text input auto-expands as you type or paste longer prompts. Dimensions persist across page reloads. Edge connections follow the block as it grows during streaming.

Fixes & refinements

  • Strikethrough and reduced opacity on completed todo items with smooth animation on toggle
  • Dashed circle indicator on the todo input row to distinguish it from created items
  • Single-click todo checkboxes, no need to select the block first
  • AI-created link blocks now auto-fetch metadata previews
  • Category prompt panel opens with animation from the clicked pill
  • Click outside to close the category panel
  • Chat history titles in active foreground color
  • Code blocks in AI responses now have a copy button in the top-right corner
  • Chat scrolls to bottom when opening a conversation without flickering
  • Chat stays in place when scrolling up during AI streaming
  • Onboarding tour updated with Cobloc AI and Canvas AI steps
  • AI features hidden for guest workspace members

Right-click menu & navigation modes

Right-click menu & navigation modes

A custom right-click context menu for the canvas, dedicated Mouse and Trackpad navigation modes, and several UI refinements.

Right-click context menu

Right-clicking on the canvas now opens a custom context menu with quick actions. Create any block type directly at the click position: Note, Todo, Link, Image, Document, or AI Chat. You can also paste images, select all blocks, fit the view, reset zoom, or switch navigation mode, all from the menu.

Right-clicking on a block shows block-specific actions: Duplicate, Bring to front, Send to back, and Delete. Each action shows its keyboard shortcut in the menu.

Mouse and Trackpad modes

Canvas navigation is now split into two dedicated modes. Mouse mode is optimized for users with a scroll wheel. Scroll to zoom, and right-click drag to pan with a subtle inertia effect when you release. Trackpad mode uses the natural gestures you already know: two-finger scroll to pan, pinch to zoom.

Switch between modes from the context menu or Settings > Preferences. A brief toast appears when you switch, showing how to navigate with the selected mode.

Fixes & refinements

  • Image & Document blocksIncreased default size and minimum dimensions so the upload UI is no longer cramped on creation
  • Block hover menuRemoved shadow from the hover toolbar for a cleaner look
  • Context menu shortcutsKeyboard shortcuts now display as individual keys with + separators
  • DocumentationAdded a new "Mouse or Trackpad" article to /docs covering both navigation modes and the context menu

Trash, onboarding & collaboration

Trash, onboarding & collaboration

A full trash system for safely deleting and restoring your work, a redesigned onboarding experience, real-time collaborator cursors, and several quality-of-life improvements.

Trash

Everything you delete now goes to the trash first. Pages, projects, and individual blocks are recoverable for 15 days before they’re permanently removed, so you never lose work by accident.

The workspace trash lives in the sidebar, with separate tabs for deleted pages and projects. Each entry shows when it was deleted and how many days remain. Deleting a project soft-deletes all of its pages along with it, and restoring it brings everything back.

Each canvas page also has its own block-level trash. When you delete a block, it moves to the page trash (accessible from the more options menu) where you can restore it or permanently remove it.

Restore with context

When you restore a page that belonged to a deleted project, you’re given a choice: restore the page along with its parent project, or restore it as a standalone page detached from the project. This keeps you in control of how your workspace is organized after restoration.

Redesigned onboarding

The onboarding tour has been split into two shorter, contextual tours. The App Tour walks you through the sidebar and workspace navigation when you first sign up. The Canvas Tour introduces block creation and canvas interactions the first time you open a page. Each tour can be dismissed, skipped, or restarted independently from the help menu.

Real-time cursors

You can now see collaborators’ cursors on the canvas in real-time. When someone else is viewing the same page, their cursor and name appear as they move around, making it easier to work together and stay aware of what others are focused on.

Shared workspaces

A new section in the workspace switcher shows workspaces that have been shared with you, making it easy to find and jump between your own spaces and ones you’ve been invited to.

Fixes & refinements

  • Canvas preferencesNew settings to customize canvas interaction behavior
  • Dashboard loadingEliminated the flash of blank screen on initial load
  • Sidebar collapseElements no longer shift and reflow during the collapse animation
  • Canvas breadcrumbFixed project and page icons incorrectly showing side by side
  • Sidebar dropdownsFixed dropdowns being clipped inside the sidebar
