Mouse or Trackpad
Switch between Mouse and Trackpad navigation modes on the canvas.
Cobloc supports two canvas navigation modes optimized for different input devices. You can switch between them at any time — the setting is saved and applies across all your pages.
Switching modes
There are two ways to switch between Mouse and Trackpad mode:
- Right-click the canvas and select Mouse or Trackpad from the context menu.
- Open Settings → Preferences and choose your mode under Canvas navigation.
When you switch, a brief toast appears showing the active mode and how to navigate with it.
Mouse mode
Optimized for users with a mouse and scroll wheel. In this mode:
Mouse mode is ideal if you have a dedicated mouse with a scroll wheel. The right-click pan gesture keeps your left click free for selecting and editing blocks.
Trackpad mode
Optimized for laptop trackpads and Magic Trackpad. In this mode:
Trackpad mode mirrors the natural gestures you use in apps like Maps and Preview — scroll to move, pinch to zoom.
Common controls
These controls work the same in both modes:
Right-click context menu
Right-clicking on the canvas opens a context menu with quick actions:
- Create blocks — Note, Todo, Link, Image, Document, or AI Chat. The block appears exactly where you right-clicked.
- Paste image — paste an image from your clipboard at the click position.
- Select all — select every block on the canvas.
- Fit view — zoom to fit all blocks in view.
- Reset zoom — return to 100% zoom.
- Mouse or Trackpad — switch navigation mode.
Right-clicking on a block shows block-specific actions: Duplicate, Bring to front, Send to back, and Delete.
In Mouse mode, right-click and drag to pan. A quick right-click (without dragging) opens the context menu.
